Research Focus

Project Description:

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.) is a popular ornamental plant that plays a key role in essential oil production. Photosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism are central processes in plant metabolism that significantly affect growth and resilience mechanisms. However, currently, there is limited information on how lavender plants regulate these processes under environmental fluctuations. This project will explore and quantify the dynamics of photosynthetic metabolism induced by the environment using biochemistry, photometry and pulse-amplitude modulation methods. Our aim is to reveal how photosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism are stabilised in lavender plants under adverse growth conditions.

Requirements:

• Basics in biochemistry
• Basic pipetting skills

Optional:

• Basics in photometry
• Basics in enzyme kinetics
• Basics in computational modelling/statistics
