Research Focus

Project description: The Keays laboratory is interested in the molecules, cells and circuits that allow animals to detect magnetic fields. This project will explore the molecular architecture of a neuronal circuit that encodes magnetic information within the pigeon brain. The project will exploit unpublished single-cell sequencing data to generate novel markers for magnetically responsive neurons within defined brain regions. The project will involve situ hybridisation, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy.

Must have lab skills: Previous experience in neuroscience and/or molecular biology.
